Canva Create 2025 Uncharted recap
Each year Canva holds their Canva Create conference in Los Angeles. It’s both a ticketed in-person event as well as something that you can watch virtually. It happened to fall on my birthday this year (April 10th!) so I was unable to watch it live. Luckily, there’s always a replay you can catch up on.
The event serves as a launch of their newest features, and also a reminder of what they already offer. If you have 45 minutes to carve out and watch it (I know, this is a big ask!) I highly recommend doing so as there are some pretty awesome demos. I’m going to do my best to recap it all in this blog post, but Canva also has their own written recap and visual recap that you can read here if you want to see some more visuals. Here’s the full video if you’d like to watch.
Before I jump into the launches and talk about the new/updated features I think you should know, I also want to remind you that Canva is granting access to their newest version to their users for a limited amount of time. I’m not 100% sure when the new version will be available for everyone, but I am sure it’ll be within a few months. So, feel free to give it a go now while it’s available, or wait if you feel more comfortable doing so.

#1: Canva Sheets Launch
This is a BIG one! Canva’s had their bulk create feature for years now, as well as the ability to create infographics, but I don’t think their ability to work with and organize data has been all that great. With the launch of Canva Sheets, I think that will change. Think of it as similar to Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, but combined with their Magic Studio AI tools. Unlike these traditional spreadsheet platforms, Canva Sheets was built with AI in mind, and because it was created by a content creation platform, it’s got the power to act as a “content engine” (their own words). Meaning, ideally you can create multiple social media posts, flyers, business cards, etc. with just a click of a button when you organize all the data in Canva Sheets. Pretty wild!

#2: Canva AI & Canva Code
This was the most jaw dropping launch of the day, in my opinion. With the combination of Canva AI and Canva Code, users now have the ability to not only brainstorm conceptual ideas, but put those concepts into action. Yes — you can now create interactive experiences on Canva. How is this possible? Well, if it can be coded, it can be created, And Canva uses AI to bring these ideas to life. Some examples of Canva Code creations they showed were custom calculators, classroom resources, and sales toolkits.
I wanted to test this feature out myself, so I went to the new AI area to see the demo. If you navigate here, you’ll be prompted to create a pricing calculator. The coding part takes a bit, I didn’t time it but it had to be about 3-5 minutes. It then shows you what it created, and you can then ask for design, content, or functional changes as you would any AI. My quick demo is here. I haven’t tested it out with an original idea yet, but I am curious and will do so once I have a good idea for something that is actually usable in my own business — if I am going to use AI, I want it to be worthwhile for my business.
Look, this is pretty awesome from a business standpoint, I won’t lie. But the consideration when using features like this depends on where you stand with AI in general. That’s a topic for a whole separate blog post! But it absolutely is an affordable, accessible means to create an interactive piece without any coding experience. The opportunities are endless with this technology, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how this evolves, and what can be created with it.
#3: Visual Suite Updates
Now THIS is the feature I am MOST excited to share, and to use in my own business! Currently, when you open a Canva project you have to choose what size it is, and if you get it wrong then you’ll need to resize it. And, if you’re creating an Instagram post, you’ll need to make a copy of the post and then resize it if you want to create a version for your Instagram story, YouTube thumbnail, flyer, etc.
Drumroll please… you can now create multiple different file sizes in ONE project! Ahhh!
This is so exciting because of many things, but the first I’ll talk about is that it simply gives you more options for organization. You don’t have to create as many folders if you can keep all your campaign materials in one project.
This also allows you flexibility to resize files without having to open up a whole new file, or duplicate the one you’ve already made. You no longer have to have a million tabs open, and it streamlines both the creation and editing process. Love love love this update!
You can also think of this as a great way to outline a strategy — starting with a brainstorm, to a budget sheet, to social media graphics, to a slide deck, and more!
#4: Magic Charts
When you use Canva Sheets, you can now create charts and infographics with just a few clicks with Canva’s AI. All you have to do is drop in your data and watch the magic happen. During Canva Create, they also talked about adding some new infographic options, so I’m excited to see those in action.
#5: New Photo Editing Tools
They also teased some new Canva photo editing features, such as Background Generator. I haven’t played around too heavily with this yet, but like Background Remover, I think it could be really neat. I’m not honestly the biggest fan of some of Canva’s Photo AI tools, but I do often use Magic Eraser and Magic Expand!
I’ve also noticed a new re-coloring feature with some photos. If you upload or select one from the Elements tab, sometimes you can change the colors used! You’ll see if the option comes up in the top editing panel. I used this recently for a t-shirt a client needed re-colored for one of their upcoming promotions. Super neat!
Other smaller updates:
Testing the addition of superscript and subscripts on some accounts!
Kerning and ligatures!
Multi-page Canva websites
AI voice to text in videos
New content collections (more Elements!)
Animated captions
Text highlighting
An expansion of Disney templates: now you’ll have access to Star Wars content
More app integrations/features with Dropbox, LinkedIn, Mailchimp, and more
Overall, I felt like the launches this year are way more exciting and useful than they were last year. However, a lot of these updates rely heavily on AI technology, so if you’re not embracing AI in your business, I can understand why some of these may be troubling to you. While I don’t condone using AI for art and content creation in my own business, I can understand why it’s so helpful for others! Like any technology, I think it’s important to be open to it and not immediately shut down. I remember when boomers were uncomfortable with Facebook and Instagram and now the older generations are all over social media! There will always be a learning curve, but I think it’s important to stay curious, and gather information to inform your own opinion.
Anywho, I hope this blog post is helpful in giving you an overall understanding of the Canva Create 2025 Uncharted launches and announcements for this year! If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out — I am a resource, always!
